La ciudad de Lleida acogerá los días 8 al 11 de junio de 2009 el VII Simposio Internacional del Melocotón que organizará el IRTA conjuntamente con la International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHC).
En el programa provisional se ha dividido el Simposio en varias temáticas sobre las que girará el mismo, entre les que destacamos las áreas de Genética y Biotecnología, Cultivo, riego y manejo del árbol y del fruto, Plagas y patología, Calidad de fruto, Poscosecha, Economía, etc.

PRESENTATION
Because peach production and commercialization is a very complex system (with a frequent cultivar renewal, highly modernized orchard management, with fruits very sensitive to many inputs (light, water, ..) and with a complex commercialization system due to the reduced fruit life) the new information and technologies are necessary to be competitive and to maintain orchard’s productivity and profitability..
The 7th International Peach Symposium, held in one of the most important peach producing areas in Spain, will be an excellent opportunity to share these new information and technologies between scientists, professionals, producers and students from different parts of the world.
The Symposium is organized under the auspices of the ISHS and Institut de Recerca i Tecnologia Agroalimentàries (IRTA) de la Generalitat de Catalunya.
The Symposium is oriented to present the new advances in peach production, and to stimulate scientific discussion on the most relevant topics.
